It is an amazing Thing in switzerland as even Swiss citizens are refugees within their own Country. The Story here starts with this completely silly System of Switzerland with every canton and every municipality having their own tax rate.
Now imagine a Business guy or a Company usually located in the canton of Zurich having the canton of Zug next door. In Zurich someone who makes a 5 Million Dollar income a year would get to the highest progressive tax rate of 35% and pays then about 1.5 Million Dollar tax. In Germany he likely will pay 2 Million Dollar tax. And depending on the canton he can safe up to 50% within Switzerland.
Maybe you ask yourself about the who is having headaches like this making 5 Million Dollar income and having to pay 2 Million Dollar tax. But you will wonder about as there are millions of People around this planet having that sort of headaches and some of them have not just the headaches with a couple Million Dollars but a couple billions instead. And if those People or companies then buy a plot of land somewhere and pay a couple Million Dollar for it to let it stand empty does not really matter as they save millions of Dollars tax with an empty Standing building with it every year.
The cantons of Zug and Schwyz have the lowest tax rates in Switzerland and this is the Story then, why you find a lot of empty Apartments and letter boxes having several names. Sometimes those letter boxes have up to 10 names of different People and companies. Sometimes those letterboxes are hosted by any lawyers, any middle men which Redirect any arriving post back to Germany or to the real address in the Canton of Zurich. Sometimes then you asked yourself about why the Swiss government was then that silly not to ask questions about why on a letterbox of a 2 room Apartment have been 10 names of people.
If you once check the real estate Situation in Switzerland and you tried to find an Apartment or a home and if you are not one of those rich smart guys exploiting a whole System, you likely will get angry once.
On one side you have a flood of empty Apartments in this Nation just used by all those Million Dollar Boys all over Europe with their tax headaches, another side average People can not find a home anymore in this Nation as with all speculation and this tax insanity Prices within the last 15 years increased by 100-200 percent.
Now this is the canton of Zug, where ugly chickenbox concrete bunkers are built with the idea to let it stand empty anyway. It is not important what Color those homes have, it is not important those homes are looking any nice, they can stand next to roads and they can be ugly. As all they are used for is the letter box in front and there are thousands. In average you say there is a letterbox Company int he canton of Zug all 2 meters you walk. Hard to believe but it is fact.
Once there will be People in Switzerland about all this getting angry. As there are so many People in Switzerland having no nice home. They are living in those ugly buildings built over the whole Nation as it got for average People impossible to find a home with a garden with all speculation done. On another side you got a million letterbox homes in this Nation Standing empty. Those People do not care about letting the most stunning home stand empty which costs 1 Million Dollar as they just safe every year a 10 Million Dollar tax with it.
There were once then some efforts by the Swiss government to make a Workaround with this whole Situation but of course they do not want to loose all those German Business men letting stand empty their letter box homes in Switzerland.
Sometimes then you ask yourself where are all those taxes going. Even thinking in Switzerland there might not be any corruption, but hard to find out about why this whole canton never has been building then something for People really being alive and living there, as there is in this whole canton not even a single Wellness Center....or would you ask, why would they need a Wellness Center as nobody except of those letter boxes is living there?
No, a lot of Swiss People are living in this region and very likely many of them are angry about our government thinking always just about money and industry but destroying any sort of ambiance withing this nation with it.
This whole Thing is the reason why in the Cantons of Schwyz and Zug the likely ugliest buildings are popping up where once next gerneration maybe has to say, blow it all up and start over again with all mistakes this Money hungry gerneration has done in this pretty landscape. And it is another reason about why in Switzerland the ugliest buildings have been built within the last decades. The empty Standing Chalet homes of rich foreigners are used for a postcard Picture in China and the ugly bunker homes and buildings are often just meant for their letter box in front which does not really care about any warm feelings.
