Beside of the 2 beaches Chaweng and Lamaii in Ko Samui, the same Thing happened with mass tourism here in Patong. Just 1990 it was a bamboo hut street having already a Bangla road. It was not too much but as well not too boring.
Finally it was the Tsunami which destroyed everything and what happened then topped any Imagination of those once knew the old town having one single Skyscraper building called Andaman Palace, which was once far from everything else. But then the Thais doubled the size of the city every year since Suvarnaphumi new Airport brought the mass tourism from all over the world where in the meantime European housewifes, mommies with 1 years old Kids and Grandmamas get over to Phuket.
But once there was a time where those travellers getting here still spoke a world at Don Muang Airport instead of watching into their smartphones alone when travelling to Thailand.
In the meantime Patong is a Horror Thai city where likely most will be glad to leave it after a week to say back home....fuck yeah i have been in Thailand as any other grandmama as well.
In the meantime you can Exchange those Skyscraper beach wolrds and it does not matter anymore if you sit in Hawaii in a shitty skyscraper overlooking the beach or anywhere else. Once after Thailand there was just Cambodia left but Forget about as well as in the meantime the Chinese guys are building the same mess once more and there is no single place on earth anymore where it fits.
But once, Chaweng beach was one of the few best places in the world to go. Just perfect, before it got destroyed by the Billion Dollars virus.
It is amazing how everyone loves this Bungalow and bamboo style but everyone of those ancient places got heavy destroyed by commerce and on another Hand you got that many site which are then just the other extreme with being that boring what let no one want to get there.
