Lake Zurich got 2 small islands called Lützelau and Ufenau which are owned by the monastery of Einsiedeln. At hot summerdays a load of private yachts share around those Islands.
Several scheduled boats are frequenting the lake which can be boarded with same ZVV tickets bought by rail. Most popular cruise boat is Pantha Rei.
The southeast part of the lake after the dam callled Seedamm is called Obersee and Ends in Schmerikon. This side of the lake is far less populated.
There is one scheduled car-ferry operation in the middle of the lake between Meilen and Horgen.
The road on the dam between Rapperswil and Pfäffikon SZ means heavy traffic and most going to work to another side of the lake are daily stuck in rush hours for hours. Worst rush hours daily are in Rapperswil-Jona.
Those Need a dock for their boats and yachts are often waiting years to get an option and usually it is expensive as hell to dock a boat at lake Zürich waht means often several thousand Dollar a year.
Basicly most People pay fortunes to life at this lake, but fact is they wont find any uglier lake in Switzerland than this having a heavy traffic road and the rail right next to it. the few venues at the lake having a good Location and not the road behind are Tina Turner homes starting from 50 Million Dollar. But you could Count them on one Hand. The whole rest is often Swiss average bunkerstyle and a few lucky ones having bought their homes before Prices went unlimited.
An average 3 room Apartment around lake Zürich starts with around 2 Million Dollar, if it is lakeside it will even have the road behind or in front but there are People dumb enough to pay for such insanity. Others would never want to life here.
There are barely any good recreational sites on the lake having no road behind, except of the part behing below Rapperswils dam.
the town where the super rich settle is called Küsnacht, but those having no doucen Million Dollar assets for their homes shoul not start to think about. Another venues around the lake are crap....money...realestate shark Business. Ugly chicken homes and the rare ones being any payable and better looking will never get empty.
So take another lake in Switzerland to create a real paradise, there are almost 200 other ones looking any better.
